MANILA – Shearline, easterlies, and intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring scattered rains over parts of the country, the weather bureau said on Sunday.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the shearline will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms will also prevail over mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon due to easterlies or winds from the Pacific.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao), Sultan Kudarat, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies.

Pagasa said flash floods or landslides are still possible due to moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.

In its latest report, the BAI said the volume of imported meat inched up by 7.8 percent to 757.3 million kilograms in the first seven months of this year from 702.24 million kg in the same period a year ago.

Obet Badrina of Pagasa said the west side of Luzon will experience warm weather as the northeast monsoon or “amihan” slightly weakened on Sunday.

The northeast monsoon, however, is forecast to surge again in the next few days and will bring cold weather beginning Monday, Badrina said.

Northern Luzon will have moderate southeast to northeast winds and moderate seas while the rest of the country will have light to moderate east to northeast winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

The temperature ranges from 23.4 °C and 30.6 °C.
